Premera Blue Cross announced that 2025 will be a key year for prioritizing biosimilars to help manage drug spending and reduce reliance on rebates. Effective January 1, 2025, new starts on the brand-name drug Humira were no longer allowed, requiring a biosimilar prescription instead. By July 1, 2025, the formulary will prefer biosimilars for existing members on Humira. Premera has a history of covering biosimilars for other medications as well.

Jim Grazko

Senior Vice President, Washington and Alaska Group Markets

Jim Grazko was named senior vice president of Washington and Alaska Group Markets in October 2022. [1] He is a 23-year Premera veteran who previously spent eight years running the Alaska market and leading the company's Underwriting division. [1] Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President, Alaska Market & Chief Underwriting Officer, establishing Premera's direction in the Alaska market and providing leadership for operational, membership, and financial goals. [4] He has been with Premera since 1999 and previously served as vice president for underwriting. [3, 4] He holds a BS in Mathematics from John Carroll University and a Masters degree in Health Services Administration from George Washington University. [4]
