County Executive

Elected by voters to a 4-year term, started on December 3, 2018, and re-elected for a second term starting January 2023. [3, 10] Previously served on the Montgomery County Council (2006-2018) and the Takoma Park City Council (1987-2006). [6, 7] Holds a B.A. in history from the University of Maryland and an M.A. in teaching from The Johns Hopkins University. [6] Also served as a teacher. [6]

Appointed by the County Executive with County Council consent. [3] Appointed as Chief Administrative Officer in 2020. [5, 12] The CAO is the second highest ranking executive branch position. [5] Previously served as a legislative aide and lobbyist for Montgomery County's Office of Intergovernmental Relations and as a budget analyst for the State of Maryland.
