Dr. Mark Mugiishi is the president and CEO of Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) since February 2020. For the majority of his career, he practiced and taught surgery. He has served HMSA in various capacities since 1995, joining the leadership team in 2015 as executive vice president, chief medical officer, and chief health officer. Dr. Mugiishi also co-founded the Endoscopy Institute of Hawaiʻi and the Eye Surgery Center of Hawaiʻi. He was a general surgeon for nearly 30 years and was associate chair of the department of surgery and director of surgical education at the University of Hawaiʻi medical school. He currently chairs the ʻIolani School Board of Governors. [5, 9]
