Effective January 1, 2025, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) is requiring prior authorization for certain services for Medicare Advantage members, including those with Experience Health Medicare Advantage℠ (HMO). These services include specific Laboratory / Genetic Testing codes, Gender Affirmation Services codes, and Behavioral Health / Mental Health services when the diagnosis is substance abuse. [5]

Effective January 1, 2025, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) providers can no longer submit claims for routine prescription eyewear for Medicare Advantage members, including Experience Health. Members can now use their Vision Allowance on the Blue FlexCard debit card to pay for prescription eyewear, which may also include other allowances depending on the plan benefits. [1]
