Appointed to lead the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services by Governor Josh Shapiro on January 17, 2023, and officially became Secretary on June 29, 2023. She is a physician and public health professional. Prior to this role, she served on the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, where she focused on strengthening services for children, veterans, and seniors and led efforts to eliminate veteran homelessness and streamline human services delivery. She also oversaw Montgomery County's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Assumed the role of Executive Deputy Secretary in April 2021. He has over 15 years of experience in the commonwealth, having previously worked in the Office of the Victim Advocate overseeing victim services and leading policy and legislative affairs work in the Department of Corrections.
Serves as the State Medicaid Director and Deputy Secretary for the Office of Medical Assistance Programs for the Department of Human Services. She has over 15 years of experience with OMAP and time with the Office of Children, Youth and Families. In the private sector, she led the development, design, and execution of population health management programs, quality improvement initiatives, care management IT systems, and predictive modeling through healthcare analytics. She is also a registered nurse with experience in hospital and community-based care.
Manages clinical and quality aspects of the programs, including oversight of eight managed care organizations and a fee-for-service program. Previously, he served as a medical director for Aetna Health Inc. and as an assistant professor and director for Clinical Quality Improvement at Penn State's Hershey Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.
