David Merritt has been named senior vice president of policy and advocacy at BCBSA, effective Oct. 24, 2022. In his role, Merritt leads BCBSA's state and federal advocacy, including lobbying, political affairs, legislative and regulatory development, as well as coalitions and industry partnerships. He leads a team of more than 50 people in the organization's Washington office and reports to Sean Robbins, executive vice president of external affairs. Merritt has nearly 20 years of high-profile health care leadership experience, previously leading public affairs and strategic initiatives at America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), and serving on the Board of Directors for the Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing. He also has previous experience working with former HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on health care issues. [4]
Robin Sanders was promoted to vice president of litigation and risk at BCBSA. In this role, Sanders manages attorneys, compliance and audit professionals, with accountability for a broad risk-focused portfolio that includes legal counseling on litigation, cybersecurity, data use, privacy, and antitrust matters and oversight of BCBSA's compliance, internal audit and anti-fraud programs. Sanders was previously BCBSA's chief privacy official and deputy general counsel for litigation and regulatory activities. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and has a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami. [7]
Deidra Jackson joined as FEP's vice president of product marketing and engagement, effective July 29. Jackson has over 20 years of health care, product development and operations experience, including 18 years serving in various leadership positions at Health Care Services Corporation. She most recently served as vice president of client success at Maven Clinic and also served as chief product and client success officer at Hydrogen Health. [7]
