New Jersey has become the latest state to mandate pay transparency in job postings. Governor Phil Murphy signed the new law, which will take effect on June 1, 2025. Under this statute, employers with at least 10 employees who do business or employ individuals in New Jersey must disclose the hourly wage or salary range in job advertisements. Additionally, a general description of benefits and other compensation programs available within the first 12 months of employment must be included. The law also requires employers to make reasonable efforts to inform current employees in affected departments about promotion opportunities before a decision is made. Temporary agencies and consulting firms registered with the Division of Consumer Affairs are exempt from the disclosure requirements.
