Has worked at AARP since 2005. Her job is to keep the trains running on time and ensure the team of staff and volunteers are strong and have the resources they need. Her favorite part of working at AARP is the people โ volunteers, staff, and community partners. A rewarding part of her job is seeing ordinary people intimidated by advocacy talk to legislators and tell their story, showing them it's easy and powerful. She grew up in Centerville, Indiana. She describes her job as being out in the community, involved with community partners, and advocating for the 50 plus to make sure communities are more accessible and livable for everyone. Her favorite part about working is the people, both co-workers and the volunteers and members she's interacted with. She grew up in England and moved back to America when she was 19. A favorite work memory was attending Open Streets in Fort Wayne where strangers helped clean up after a thunderstorm. A most rewarding project was a bus ride with elected officials to discuss transportation needs. She played field hockey in college. [5]
Has served as the State Legislative Director for AARP Indiana for over nine years, focusing on increasing engagement, impact, and relevance for the state's growing 50-plus population. She works alongside volunteers, builds relationships with community and policy leaders, and organizes statewide coalitions. Prior to AARP Indiana, she worked in advocacy for the Indiana State Medical Association and as a legislative assistant in the Indiana General Assembly. She serves as a board member of the Indiana Debate Commission. Ambre graduated from Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN with a degree in Social Work and calls Indianapolis home. [8]
